Born in 1834 in Kentucky, John Frances Myers came to McLean County as an infant and grew up on a farm. He attended Illinois Wesleyan University and became a farmer himself near Fairbury and in Vermillion County. Later he retired to Bloomington.
Myers began writing poems as a youngster and as an adult published two books of poetry and had poems published in newspapers and magazines.
This collection contains hundreds of Myers’ poems, a couple essays, and a publicity brochure.
