In March 1880, members of the Sisters of the Order of St. Francis purchased the two-story Waddle mansion and established a hospital in Bloomington. Additions to the hospital came later, including a nursery in 1921 and the Marian Unit for children with cerebral palsy in 1954. In 1968, the medical center moved to a new location along East Washington Street and the Route 66 Beltline (now Veterans Parkway).
The collection includes an account of all the additions made to the hospital. It also holds a 1980 hospital master plan report, brochures for events and construction proposals, information booklets and visitor guides, newsletters, including Regarding Women and Healthcare and Health & Vitality, and records and surveys on patient care.
