The Lake Run Club was founded by two running enthusiasts who, due to a race cancellation in an unnamed town, ended up running around Lake Bloomington—a 7.5-mile loop. The runners returned the following week along with some friends. Running at the lake gained popularity because of the beautiful scenery and quiet roads, and in 1982 the first Lake Run race, a 7.5-mile race around the lake was held. In 1988, the Lake Run Club was chartered with the goal to, “Promote running and racing in Central Illinois.”

The collection includes Newsletters from May 2000 through September 2009 and a few miscellaneous items.
