An Intercity High School basketball competition was begun in Bloomington and Normal in 1968. In 1972 football competition was added. Girls basketball probably began in 1999. Original members included Normal’s Ironmen, Bloomington’s Raiders (later Purple Raiders), University High’s Pioneers and Central Catholic High School’s Saints. Normal West Wildcats were added later.
