Dale Huber (1917-1985) was born April 15, 1917, in Gridley, Illinois. He married Opal Drake on June 18, 1938, and they had three children together. A lifelong resident of Normal, Huber served in the Armed Services for 24 years, 19 in the Reserves. He served in World War II as a master sergeant and was decorated with the Silver and Bronze Stars. Dale Huber worked as a brakeman, freight conductor, and passenger train conductor for the GM&O, Illinois Central Gulf, and Amtrak railroads. He founded the local Railroad Retirement Club.
