Harper & Brothers (originally brothers Fletcher, James, John, and Wesley) published this from 1857 through 1916. It featured foreign and domestic news, essays on varied topics, fiction, humor and illustrations. The weekly is perhaps best known for its extensive coverage of the US Civil War including numerous illustrations and for the work of political cartoonist Thomas Nast.
