The Schwiemann family is traced from 1878 to Charles Schwiemann’s death in 1945, and is linked through marriage to the Bieber family in 1916. The Bieber family of the early 1900’s is represented through certificates and other documents.
Beryl Bieber’s career at General Telephone Company of Illinois (GTI) is marked by awards and news items. There are also many articles marking the company’s progress for the years of 1970 through 1990.
The collection includes the Bieber family history and, more extensively, the Schwiemann family history through birth certificates, marriage licenses and funeral notices.
Newspaper clippings of GTI employee retirements, wedding anniversaries and deaths during the 1970s through 1990 are included along with the invitations to anniversary and retirement parties. GTI Employees’ Association By-Laws and a GTI 50th anniversary booklet are also included.
