Postwar Housing Boom Maplewood Subdivision, January 1957

January 3rd, 2016

New suburban-like developments sprouted up in the Twin Cities in the years after World War II to accommodate young couples and their Baby Boom children. Seen here are 1404 (left) and 1406 Maplewood Drive in Normal’s Maplewood subdivision. It’s believed that Howard and Carol Hobbs were the first occupants of 1404 Maplewood Drive, while Norman and Charlotte Martin were the first to live at 1406. Today, Maplewood is one of the prettier post-war neighborhoods in the Twin Cities.
