Photo of the Week, 107: Marjorie Wikoff: "Lady Cabbie" in 1957

Marjorie Wikoff:

In late June 1957, The Pantagraph profiled Marjorie Wikoff, a licensed practical nurse who turned to taxi driving because there wasn't enough local nursing work to pay the bills. Wikoff, who had a daughter turning 12 in July, also took in washing and ironing.

"One thing she doesn't like is some drunks, who are, she said, so sloppy and vulgar-mouthed when they get in the cab," noted The Pantagraph.
