Veterans Day was first known as “Armistice Day,” which goes back to November 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the end of World War I. Seen here is the 1945 Armistice Day ceremony on the Courthouse (now Museum) Square in the heart of downtown Bloomington. November 11, 1945 came a little more than two months after the end of World War II.
