Salch, David State Farm

David Salch was an insurance salesman who grew up in Bloomington, Illinois. His parents were helped establish the western branch of State Farm in California during the 1930s, and were seemingly somewhat close to the Mecherle family.

The collection includes Mr. Salch’s papers and correspondence from roughly 1910 to 2000. Folder 1 spans 1908 to 1939 with mostly postcards and correspondence among family members. The second folder ranges from 1943 to 1961 and includes items addressed to David Salch’s father Herman Salch from various individuals including WWI servicemen. The third folder includes genealogy of G. J. Mecherle and family, an essay Salch coauthored in 1995, and other items. Folder 4 includes undated materials such as paycheck inserts or note sheet materials that Salch would have been given by State Farm.
