This collection includes audio recordings of speeches, meetings, and music on cassettes, reels, compact discs, 78, 45, and 33 1/3 rpm records, 8-tracks, and flexi-discs. Box 1 contains phonographs related to Bloomington-raised Adlai E. Stevenson II. Box 2 contains phonographs in memoriam of Stevenson after his death in 1965. Box 3 contains recordings of politicians and political content, some of which occurred in Illinois (as with Eisenhower’s 1952 Presidential Nomination Speech in Chicago).

Box 4 contains 16” records from the Committee for Economic Development as well as songs promoting Adlai E. Stevenson. Box 5 has records of radio broadcasts on the world at large and the local area. Box 6 contains 7”, 10”, and 12” records of Illinois musicians, and Box 7 continues this trend but with 7” records, cassettes, and 8-tracks, as well as a reel tape of the Bloomington-Normal Symphony Orchestra, whose reels continue into Box 8.

Boxes 9 and 10 contain compact discs dated before 2000 or those of unknown dates, and it includes performances of school and university groups, choral and band performances, and the Bloomington/Normal Symphony. Boxes 11 and 12 deal hold CDs after 2000. Box 13 continues with local musicians on 12” records. Boxes 14 and 15 contain phonographs of local choral and band performances, while Box 16 contains church music and spoken word on records. Box 17 contains Joe Dowell recordings in various formats. Box 18 has recordings of musicians with no local ties here. Box 19 has recordings from Illinois State University Band’s “Heritage of the March.” Box 20 contains cassette tapes from artists or groups with local connections. Box 21 continues with local musicians on 12” records. Box 22 contains unidentified items and miscellany.
