The Bloomington Chapter of Sweet Adelines joined Sweet Adelines International in 1952 and were known as Midwest Gateway #5. They entertained at civic events charitable functions, contests and shows. Membership came from different occupations and ages. All shared a love of singing and commitment to advancing barbershop education and harmony.
Membership is worldwide, from Australia to Canada, and all fifty of the United States. We are proving that the four parts of barbershop harmony-lead, tenor baritone and bass-are suited to women’s voices and provide a natural range for nearly all.
The Chorus Cues newsletter kept Midwest Gateway Region #5 members up to date locally as well as internationally.
This collection includes copies of Chorus Cues from 1999 to 2001 as well as recruiting brochures. There are also Board Meeting minutes and Financial Position papers. The Bloomington chapter goal setting results are included along with revitalization programs. There are legal documents and charter dissolution and International Charter-at-Large, as well as miscellaneous items.
