Bring your lunch and join us to learn about conducting oral histories from the Bloomington-Normal Black History Project on Thursday, February 13, from 12:10 to 1:00 p.m. with BNBHP chairperson Andrew Thomas.
Doing an oral history is not a “one-size-fits-all” project. Each project needs to be tailored to a specific topic, community, cultural background, or the individual that is being interviewed, as experiences and perspectives vary greatly. Andrew Thomas, who is also a PhD student studying history of the University of Illinois, will share information on how to do oral histories and customize them based on the background of interviewees. Thomas will also give an update on the Black History Project and the ongoing efforts to document the history of the local Black community.
The Museum's Lunch & Learn series is made possible with the support of our presenting sponsor, MCK CPAs & Advisors. This series provides unique learning opportunities every second Thursday of the month over the lunch hour (12:10 to 1:00 p.m.) in person and live via youtube.com/mchistorymuseum.
Save the dates in your calendars for the next two Lunch & Learns on March 13 and April 10.
