Go back in time to May 29, 1856, when Abraham Lincoln gave the keynote address at a political convention in downtown Bloomington. Learn about the goal to establish a new political party opposed to the expansion of slavery. Discover why it is said Lincoln gave one of the greatest, most eloquent speeches of his life that evening, as he rallied northern voters of various political leanings to the anti-slavery cause. Bill Kemp, the Museum's Library, will help participants learn why this speech became known as the “Lost Speech” and how it is not really lost!
This program will be held on Wednesday, October 16 at 6:00 p.m. in the Instructional Commons North Room 2304 at Heartland Community College. Registration is $35 per person and can be accessed by clicking here.
