In late January 1963, Bloomington-Normal hosted the 34th annual Illinois Women's Bowling Association (IWBA) state tournament. This photograph appeared in the January 26, 1963 Pantagraph, Bloomington's longtime daily newspaper.
The original caption read: Bloomington's Women's Bowling Association president Mrs. Ben Welk shows the state president, Mrs. O.E. White of Rockford, and Normal Mayor Robert Randall how to throw a winning ball down an imaginary alley. The three were among state officers and city officials attending the Friday night banquet at the Illinois House, as part of the Association Tournament activities.
