In late July 1922, the McLean County Farm Bureau and the McLean County Home Bureau held a picnic west of Bloomington for farmers and rural folk from six area townships. A crew from Homestead Films, Inc. of Chicago was also there to shoot scenes for a seven-reel silent picture to be called “The Yoke of Age.” The finished film played at the old Castle Theatre in Bloomington (located on East Street) on October 16-17, 1922.Seen here (presumably left to right) are Rosanne Parker, Evelyn Smith, and Mildred Brigham. This photo comes from the McLean County Home Bureau Collection, and was likely taken by Clara Brian, the longtime Home Bureau advisor who was also an accomplished photographer.
