Railroad foremen used time books to record workers’ names, hours, wages and specifics of projects undertaken.  Train engineers and firemen used time books to log their time, also indicating the engine they were driving/serving; origin and destination; and other particulars. Books were often preprinted by insurance companies or unions.

The collection includes time books with notations made by local foremen as well as enginemen, mostly from the 1930s-40s.  Unused 1964-65 books from a local union round out the collection.
