We're kicking off a summer of celebration with the Red Carpet Corridor Festival — two days of activities spanning 15 communities along Route 66 from Joliet to Bloomington.

Head over to visitbn.org/red-carpet-corridor-2026 for a complete list of everything happening across McLean County this weekend. Here at the Museum, we've got an awesome line up of activities planned for people of all ages!

Start your Saturday adventure off with the first Downtown Bloomington Farmers’ Market of the year from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. We’ll have free admission for all from 8:30 a.m. to Noon, just like we do every Saturday from May to October, thanks to our Museum at the Market sponsor, the Illinois Farm Bureau.

On this extra special Saturday, we’ll also have local artist Brian Simpson on site drawing portraits, an Abraham Lincoln impersonator milling about, and an opportunity to play our brand new card based trivia game with the game’s designer! We'll be announcing more about the game's release next week, so check back soon for details.

End your day with the Illinois Symphony Orchestra at 7:30 p.m. at ISU’s Center for the Performing Arts. The Fabulous “Finnish” features a robust ensemble of music, including the recently commissioned “Reverie on the Mother Road” by Illinois composer Michelle Isaac. Tickets are available online at ilsymphony.org/bnfabulous or by phone at 309-438-2535. Plus, the ISO will donate 50% of full‑price adult ticket sales (sans facility fees) back to the Museum if you use the code MCMH at checkout.

We'll also be open for the festivities on Sunday from 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. — it's the one Sunday a year that we're open! So stop by, pick up an exclusive Route 66 Centennial water bottle, and explore all that Illinois Route 66 has to offer.
