Next To Normal Story Slam: Remember Me
The Next to Normal Story Slam began in 2018 as a way to bring people together through stories, providing a window into the richness and complexity of others’ lives. Next to Normal stories are true, first-person accounts told from the heart.
For the month of October, the Museum is partnering with Next to Normal to present a Story Slam in conjunction with the Museum’s display “Mourning in McLean.” The theme, “Remember Me” will feature stories that will focus on remembering family, friends, and anyone important to us who has died, but remains in our hearts. We are inviting the community to consider the special person about whom you would like to share a memory.
You can share their memory and their impact on your life in two ways:
• sign up to tell a 6-10 minute story by visiting our website www.nexttonormalstoryslam.com
• bring a picture of that special someone to post on our memory wall or that will be shared in the Museum’s community ofrenda during Dia de Muertos at the end of October through mid-November.
This free community event will be held on Friday, October 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the McLean County Arts Center. For more information or questions, visit nexttonormalstoryslam.com.
