Meet the author! Museum's Senior Director of Education, Candace Summers, will speak about her new book which explores the many facets of death, mourning, and remembrance from the mid-19th century to the early 20th century in McLean County. This free, public program will be held on Thursday, October 8 at 7:00 p.m. at Bloomington Public Library in Community Room 3.

Summers's book Mourning in McLean: The Story of Death, Grieving, and Funerary Customs in McLean County shares life stories from our past, information about mourning rituals and superstitions, burial practices, monument makers, famous McLean County funerals, and features items from the Museum's collections.

Books will be available for purchase and can be signed by the author.

This program will also be streamed live on the BPL YouTube channel, so you can join from the comfort of your home. (Please note that at-home viewers will not be able to participate in the Q & A session beyond observing.)
