Calling ALL Knitters and Crocheters, grab your needles and hooks, some yarn, a friend or two, and come and knit for a bit!
The third Knit In for 2024 will be Saturday, August 3 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Illinois Art Station. This event will be held on the patio at the Art Station (please bring a lawn chair to sit on. If inclement weather, the event will be moved indoors). Knitters and crocheters are welcome to come and create charity items or work on their own projects in the company of like-minded crafters.
This quarter’s featured project is making hats and scarves that will be distributed to local students through the Promise Council. The Promise Council is a local organization made up of a collection of caring adults who work to connect community resources to the specific needs of students in local schools in grades K-12. From food backpack programs, school supply/toiletry backpacks, resource fairs, school-based mentoring, and more, the Promise Council works to help schools, help kids. During the winter months, the Promise Council often gets requests for hats, scarves, mittens, and gloves to help students in need. We will be collecting those items starting in August through the beginning of October so that the Promise Council can start handing them out as the weather turns cold. Items made of materials that are machine washable and dryable is preferred.
Parking will be available in the parking lot on Linden Street, down the hill from the Art Station. There will be limited parking in the circle drive way directly outside of IAS. See this link for a parking map: https://illinoisartstation.org/visit/
