{ "name":"Knit In at Bloomington Public Library", "description":"

Calling ALL Knitters and Crocheters, grab your needles and hooks, some yarn, a friend or two, and come and knit for a bit!

The second Knit In for 2024 will be Saturday, May 11 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Bloomington Public Library. This event will be held in the Computer Lab at BPL and is free and open to the public. Knitters and crocheters are welcome to come and create charity items or work on their own projects in the company of like-minded crafters.

This quarter’s featured project is making chemo caps for Carle Cancer Institute of Normal. Hats can be knitted or crocheted; must be new—never worn, clean—free of perfume, pet hair and from a smoke-free environment; be made of soft yarn—cotton, acrylic, silk, bamboo, fleece or a blend is best. Do not use wool or alpaca as they can irritate the scalp; use patterns that do not have gaps or large holes. A tighter stitch is best so that it covers the scalp; adult sizes only; and placed individually in clear ziplock style plastic bags.

Parking will be available at the library. Questions? Contact the Education Department at 309-827-0428 or education@mchistory.org.
