Holiday Card Writing for Senior Living Facilities
The holiday season is a cherished time for reconnecting with friends and family, and exchanging holiday cards is one of its most delightful traditions. But for some older adults living in senior care facilities, the season can feel lonely. They may not have family nearby, receive much mail, or have many visitors. To help ease that isolation and remind them they are not alone, the McLean County Museum of History will once again send cards to brighten the holidays of older adults in our community.
Since 2020, the Museum has sent thousands of holiday cards to older adults in senior care facilities, and we couldn’t have done it without help from our community. This year, we’re asking for your help again! Join us for our Holiday Card Writing Party on Thursday, December 10 from 1-3 p.m. at the Museum. We’ll provide photo postcards featuring images from the Museum’s Pantagraph Negative Collection, along with markers, stickers, and suggested messages. Light refreshments will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Completed cards will be delivered to McLean County senior living facilities the week before Christmas. The more cards we write, the more older adults we can help make their holidays merry and bright!
