The McLean County Museum of History is offering a Social Justice Walking Tour on Monday, June 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. to explore local history related to civil rights, women’s suffrage, freedom of the press, antisemitism, environmental justice, urban renewal, labor struggles, and other such social justice initiatives.
The walk begins at 6 p.m. in downtown Bloomington on the east side of the Museum Square. The walk covers approximately two miles, concluding south of downtown near St. Mary’s Catholic Church. There is no better way to learn about our troubled, triumphant, and timely past than to hear about it firsthand— at the actual sites where the history was made! Museum board member and labor historian Mike Matejka, and Museum Librarian Bill Kemp will lead the walk.
In the event of inclement weather, the walk will be rescheduled for Thursday, June 13, 6 to 8 p.m.
All twenty-five spots have been reserved for this tour offering. Please call the Museum at 309-827-0428 to get added to the waitlist.
