Join us for the local premier of From Courtroom to Capital: Lincoln’s Path to the Presidency on Thursday, April 30 at 7:00 p.m. at the Normal Theater! This event is free and open to the public.
The 18-minute film explores Abraham Lincoln’s time as a lawyer in Illinois, further examining how his legal career aided him before and during the presidency. It was created by The Abraham Lincoln National Heritage Area, in collaboration with the Abraham Lincoln Association.
A panel discussion, moderated by the Museum's very own Norris Porter, will follow the film screening. The panelists are:
Guy Fraker - retired attorney and author of Lincoln’s Ladder to the Presidency (2012) and Looking for Lincoln in Illinois – A Guide to Lincoln’s 8th Judicial Circuit (2017)
Dr. Marcia Young - historian and former Site Manager for the David Davis Mansion State Historic Site
Samuel Wheeler - Lincoln expert and Director of History Programs for the Illinois Supreme Court Historic Preservation Commission
This is event is being collaboratively hosted by Looking for Lincoln, the Town of Normal, the McLean County Museum of History, and the David Davis Mansion.
