Koos will review the story of the diverse peoples and events of this county by presenting the struggle to build community and secure freedom as these many communities defined it. Native peoples, women and men, African Americans, Irish and German immigrants all sought and contested for their freedom.
Greg Koos served and led the McLean County Museum of History from 1977 to 2016. His work there was recognized with numerous state and national awards. His historical research has been published in the United States and Ireland. Koos lives with his wife, Carol, in his hometown of Bloomington, IL. Most recently he wrote the book, Freedom, Land, and Community: A History of McLean County Illinois, 1730-1900. Copies of the book will be available for sale, and Koos will be happy to sign the books purchased
Meeting to convene at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 11, 2023 in the historic Gov. Fifer Courtroom at the McLean County Museum of History in Downtown Bloomington.
